Buttermilk Substitutes: When buttermilk is absent, fear not! Create a quick substitute with these alternatives: Sour Cream, Plain Yogurt, White Vinegar, or Lemon Juice. For a cup of buttermilk, try these easy swaps:

  • Sour Cream Method: Mix 4 tablespoons of milk with enough sour cream to make a cup.
  • Plain Yogurt Method: Combine 2 tablespoons of milk with enough plain yogurt to make a cup.
  • White Vinegar Method: Stir 1 tablespoon of white vinegar into milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  • Lemon Juice Method: Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice with milk and let it sit for 10 minutes; it'll look curdled, but stir to combine.

These substitutes work seamlessly in various recipes, providing the tangy richness of buttermilk, ensuring your culinary creations maintain their delicious flavor and texture.
