Description
Enjoy perfect homemade Strawberry Lemonade – a guilt-free, refreshing twist on a classic favorite.
Ingredients
2 cups granulated sugar (or sugar alternative like Splenda for a “weight watchers friendly” option)
2 cups water
1 lb strawberries, hulled
1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4 lemons)
5–6 cups cold water
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar (or sugar alternative) and 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir until the sugar (or sugar alternative) dissolves completely. This is your simple syrup.
Once the simple syrup comes to a boil, remove it from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.
While the simple syrup cools, squeeze fresh lemon juice from about 4 lemons into a pitcher.
In a blender, add 1 pound of hulled strawberries. Blend them until they are fully pureed.
If desired, strain the strawberry puree through a mesh strainer to remove the seeds. This step is optional.
Add the strawberry puree to the pitcher with the fresh lemon juice.
Pour the cooled simple syrup (or sugar alternative) into the pitcher with the strawberry-lemon mixture.
Add 5-6 cups of cold water to the pitcher, depending on your desired level of sweetness and tartness. Stir the mixture until well combined.
Chill the strawberry lemonade in the refrigerator until it's ready to serve.
