Can you afford to eat a 9 point dessert?

If you plan ahead, you can eat ANYTHING on ANY plan. But planning is the key! There are so many options for low and zero point meals, making it easy to enjoy treats such as these baked cinnamon apples.

What is the best apple to bake?

Well, this depends on your tastes and the recipe. There are so many varieties of apples to chose! If you have a recipe that leans toward the sweeter side, with more sugar added to it, the tartness of a granny smith apples would pair beautifully. They have a slight sweetness but tend to pack more of a tart bite.

A versatile favorite apple is the honeycrisp. I would recommend this for the baked cinnamon apple recipe. They are easy to find year-round, a plus since many fruits are seasonal. They have just a hint of honey, but aren't overly sweet.

Braeburn apples are a great choice for making. They remain firm, have a sweet-tart flavor, and aren't overly juicy. This is helpful in some recipes, as they won't be too runny.

Fuji apples are a bit more juicy, but still hold their shape well when baked. This is a plus, as you shouldn't end with a mushy apple mess.

If you are looking for a sweet apple to bake with, golden delicious is the way to go. It will hold its shape when baked and is among the sweetest of the apples available.

Personally, I like to mix it up and use a golden delicious apple and a granny smith apple. That gives a nice balance of sweet and tart. You can use any and all the apples you chose for this recipe.

No matter which apples you ppick, getting those fruit servings in is important for overall health and wellness. Apples are a great source of fiber and have some amazing health benefits.

The bulk of the points in this recipe are from the almond flour and the butter. If you omit the topping, it will only be 2-3 points from the maple syrup. You could serve it with granola, oats, or a cereal like Grape Nuts to get some carbs in there. This would also be a great topping for oatmeal or greek yogurt.

Toppings for baked cinnamon apples

We love homemade whipped cream and this recipe is made for it! It's so easy to make and not full of preservatives and chemicals. You just take a cup of heavy whipping cream, a tablespoon of confectioners sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla and whip until peaks form. Easy peasy and the perfect topping for baked cinnamon apples! you will get 16 servings at three points each. So again, that planning will come in hand.
